Scout's Honor is Venge Vineyards' crowd-pleaser, made since 1996 and named in memory of the family's yellow Labrador, Scout. The 2022 is 71% Zinfandel with 19% Charbono, 8% Petite Sirah and a splash of Syrah, drawn 69% from Napa County and 31% from Sonoma, aged in 65% new American oak. Big, jammy, unapologetically Californian, and built to drink on release. Not subtle. That's the point. The bottle for burger night with people you like.
Dark red berry jam, toast, vanilla and baking spice. Full-bodied and plush, warm at 15.1%, soft tannins, sweet-oak finish.
