Cabrera - “La Pietra” - Chardonnay - 2020

Tenute del Cabreo farms 25 hectares in Panzano, in the heart of Chianti Classico, land usually reserved for Sangiovese. La Pietra is their outlier: a barrel-fermented, French-oak-aged Chardonnay from a producer better known for red wine. The 2020 is bright and dense rather than heavy, with real minerality under the fruit -- built for someone who wants serious white Burgundy style without leaving Tuscany. Good bottle for a dinner where the main course is richer than a typical Chardonnay pairing. Light yellow with green hints. Acacia flower and ripe tropical fruit on the nose, sliced white peach and apple on the palate, with vanilla and honey from the oak. Rich, dense and mineral, dry and crisp, long finish.
