Domaine Eden - Chardonnay - 2017

$43.99

Domaine Eden is the second label of Mount Eden Vineyards, made from younger vines on the same fog-line Santa Cruz Mountains estate. The 2017 Chardonnay shows why the site matters: tangerine rind and walnut on the nose, grapefruit peel and sourdough toast on the palate, all wrapped around real acidity instead of oak sweetness. Wine Enthusiast and Robert Parker both scored it 92 points, and both note it has another decade of development ahead. A Chardonnay for people who think they don't like Chardonnay.

Tangerine rind, light walnut and lanolin on the nose, with ripe orchard fruit, hay and beeswax underneath. Lemon balm, grapefruit peel and sourdough toast on the palate, silky and plush, lit up by a mineral streak and bright acidity through a long finish.

Classic matches for Chardonnay: Roast chicken, lobster or crab with butter, corn dishes, soft creamy cheeses.

Domaine Eden sits on the Mount Eden Vineyards estate in the Santa Cruz Mountains, planted above the fog line. It's the estate's second label, sourced from younger vines than the flagship Mount Eden bottling but farmed with the same discipline.
