Paul Goerg is a growers' cooperative Champagne house based in Vertus, in the heart of the Cote des Blancs, founded in 1950 when eight winegrowing families joined forces. This is their Brut Tradition, the house's standard-bearer Premier Cru bottling, blending roughly 60% Chardonnay with 40% Pinot Noir from 120 hectares of estate-farmed vines. It's an honest, grower-driven Champagne, the kind of bottle that over-delivers for the price. Good for a Tuesday toast or a full table of guests. Straw yellow with golden reflections. Aromas of acacia blossom and citrus with a hint of peach; fresh, balanced palate with fine mousse and a long aftertaste. Crisp and food-friendly rather than rich.
