Post & Beam is Far Niente's newer label, launched in 2020 alongside Nickel & Nickel and Dolce. Director of Winemaking Andrew Delos leads it, built to favor pure fruit and brightness over the polish of the Far Niente mothership. This bottling is 91% Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, sourced from Napa Valley vineyards picked partly for shade that keeps the acidity fresh. A structured, food-friendly Cabernet for a dinner party where you want something serious but not stuffy.
Cassis, clove and Christmas spice on the nose, with blueberry pie filling and toasted mocha. Structured tannins carry through cassis and blackberry to a long, elegant finish of vanilla and cocoa.
A ribeye off the grill, or short ribs braised low and slow -- this Cab wants fat and char.
Far Niente launched Post & Beam in 2020 as its fourth Napa Valley label, alongside Dolce, Nickel & Nickel and EnRoute. Winemaking runs through Andrew Delos, Far Niente's longtime Director of Winemaking, with fruit drawn from Napa Valley sites chosen for cooler exposure to preserve freshness.
