Sartarelli is one of Verdicchio's benchmark producers in the Marche, and this Brut Spumante takes their signature grape into sparkling territory. It's 100% Verdicchio, made by the long Charmat method with 5 to 6 months of lees aging, from estate vineyards around 250 meters up in Poggio San Marcello. Only about 25,000 bottles come out of each vintage. An easy, everyday Italian sparkler for aperitivo hour, not a Champagne substitute, and better for it.

Brilliant straw yellow with aromas of apple, lemon verbena and almond, plus a yeasty edge from lees aging. Fresh, restrained acidity, citrus fruit flavors, and a fine, persistent mousse.

Sartarelli suggests it with fish starters, salami, cheese pizza, fresh mozzarella and scrambled eggs with herbs.

Estate fruit comes from about 10 hectares around Poggio San Marcello, at 250 meters, on medium-textured, slightly calcareous soil, with vines averaging 15 years old and trained Guyot-style. Sartarelli produces roughly 25,000 bottles of the Brut each year.
