Taittinger - Prelude Grand Cru - Champagne

Prelude is Taittinger showing what grand cru fruit alone can do. Half Chardonnay from Avize and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, half Pinot Noir from Mailly, Bouzy and Ambonnay, first-press juice only, then five years on the lees when the law requires a fraction of that. The extra time builds body and bouquet while the Chardonnay keeps it silvery and precise. Champagne for the night the news is actually good.

Pale gold with silvery glints. Minerality first, then elderflower and a cinnamon-spice undertone. Lively citrus meets white peach in syrup. Silky, round, with a rich lingering finish.
