Anakota Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 750ml
$120.00
Anakota is Pierre Seillan's Cabernet project in Knights Valley, the wild corner of Sonoma pressed against Mount St. Helena. He is the same French vigneron behind Vérité, working volcanic slopes between 700 and 950 feet surrounded by fir forest and cold mountain streams. This is the Knights Valley bottling, the estate blend rather than the single-vineyard Helenas: 2021 carries 10% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot, aged 12 months in 30% new French oak. Mountain-edge structure without mountain-tannin punishment. A Cabernet for Bordeaux drinkers.
Blueberries and cassis with violet tones, coffee grounds, earth and a savory mushroom undertone. Medium-bodied, supple and juicy, ripe fruit kept firmly in check, closing on a long, graphite-laced finish.
Classic matches for Cabernet Sauvignon: Ribeye off the grill, lamb chops, aged cheddar, a rainy night and a good movie.
Anakota's estate vineyards climb the southwest-facing volcanic slopes at the foot of 4,300-foot Mount St. Helena. Vigneron Pierre Seillan bottles the Helena Montana and Helena Dakota sites separately; the Knights Valley cuvée blends across estate sources led by Helena Montana fruit.
