Antiquum Darlene Pinot Noir 2024
$48.00
Antiquum Farm is the Willamette Valley's great outlier. Owner Stephen Hagen coined the term Grazing Based Viticulture, folding animal husbandry and regenerative agriculture into how these vines are farmed at 800 feet in the southern valley, near the elevation ceiling for Oregon Pinot Noir. Darlene gathers six distinct Pinot Noir expressions from different corners of the vineyard, fermented on native yeasts and bottled unfined and unfiltered. Recent releases spent ten months in 29% new French oak. This is farming you can actually taste.
Woodland flowers, zippy raspberry, ripe strawberry and a tropical-citrus lift, deepening into pomegranate, pink peppercorn and black tea. The finish hints at vanilla biscuit and cedar.
Classic matches for a red like this: Grilled and roasted meats, hearty pastas, aged cheeses.
Darlene comes off Harley's Hill at Antiquum Farm: Bellpine soil, vines over two decades old, a mix of Wadensville, Pommard and Dijon clones. Fruit is picked at night, fully destemmed, cold-soaked four days and fermented on native yeasts.
