Aston is winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown's own Pinot Noir project, founded with Fred Schrader in 2001 and fully his since 2021. The 40-acre estate sits north of Bodega Bay on the true Sonoma Coast, about five miles from the Pacific. The 2020 is a deep, dark, structured Pinot from a strong vintage, nearly opaque in the glass, with freshness running front to back. This wine averages $75 around the country. At our price it is the sleeper buy on the shelf.

Bay leaf, macerated bramble fruit, blood orange and cedar bough, with pomegranate, sassafras and crushed raspberry underneath. Dense but mouthwatering, closing on fresh earth, cherry reduction and crushed rock.
