Comte de Laube's Blanc de Blanc Brut is a Southwest France sparkler at 11.5% ABV, and multiple retailers list the blend as Chardonnay plus three other white grapes: Folle Blanche, Ugni Blanc and Chenin Blanc. It's light, easy-drinking bubbles at a real everyday price, built for toasting without the Champagne markup. Worth knowing: despite the Blanc de Blanc name, this isn't a 100% Chardonnay wine in the strict Champagne sense, it's a regional blend.

Pale yellow with golden tints and fine, persistent bubbles. Subtle lemon and toasted almond on the nose, apple and floral notes on the palate, a hint of tropical fruit, crisp dry finish with a touch of marzipan.

Oysters, fried foods, salty snacks. Bubbles cut through everything.
