Provence rosé with an actual personality. Domaine Gavoty blends Grenache and Cinsault in roughly equal measure, plus dabs of Carignan and Syrah, from inland vines in the Var. It drinks like the serious wine it is — dry, saline, structured — while most rosé at this price is pink water with better marketing. The cuvée is named for the cicadas that soundtrack the estate's summers, and it tastes the way that sounds.

Wild strawberry, red currant and citrus zest, a whisper of black pepper and basil. Juicy but adamantly dry, with a saline streak that separates it from the sea of pale patio pours at this price.
