Novelty Hill - Royal Slope Red Wine - 2020

$30.00

Novelty Hill built this blend from its own Stillwater Creek Vineyard, planted in 2000 on the steep, south-facing Royal Slope above the Frenchman Hills. It's mostly Cabernet Sauvignon (65%) with Merlot (31%) and a splash of Cabernet Franc (4%), bottled at a bold 15% alcohol. Stillwater Creek was the first Columbia Valley vineyard certified Salmon Safe, back in 2007, which says something about how seriously this estate farms. Wild berries, sweet cherry and black currant fruit, generous and round, built for people who want a Washington red with real weight.

Wild berries, sweet cherry and black currant aromas and flavors. Medium to full-bodied, round and generous through the mid-palate, with a fresh, fruit-forward, lingering finish.

Classic matches for a red like this: Grilled and roasted meats, hearty pastas, aged cheeses.

Estate fruit from Stillwater Creek Vineyard, planted in 2000 on the Royal Slope of the Frenchman Hills under viticulturist Ed Kelly, with winemaking by Pacific Northwest veteran Mike Januik, who partnered with owners Tom Alberg and Judi Beck to found Novelty Hill. Stillwater Creek became Washington's first Salmon Safe-certified Columbia Valley vineyard in March 2007.
