Steenburg - Sparkling Sauvignon Blanc - NV

Steenberg is the oldest farm in Constantia, South Africa's first wine region, founded on land granted to Catharina Ras, the country's first female landowner, back in 1682. This traditional-method sparkler takes the estate's Sauvignon Blanc and gives it bubbles, keeping all the grassy, gooseberry snap of the grape while adding real fizz made the Champagne way. A fun, unfussy fizz for people who find actual Champagne a little too serious for a Tuesday.

Granadilla, melon and a hint of lime on the nose, with the grape's classic cut-grass, gooseberry and peppery edge. Zippy acid, bright pineapple and guava flavors, fine persistent bubbles.

Oysters, sushi, or just a glass on its own before dinner. It's got the acid to open any meal.

Steenberg is the oldest wine farm in the Constantia Valley, granted in 1682 to Catharina Ras, South Africa's first female landowner, with wine first made there in 1695. The estate takes its name from the mountain looming over it and has been redeveloped as a vineyard and hotel since 1990.
