Chateau Bournonville Reserve - Cabardés - 2021
$15.99
Château Bournonville sits in Moussoulens in the Cabardès appellation, a small Languedoc zone unique for blending southern French grapes with Bordeaux varieties in the same wine. The estate was purchased in 1994 and replanted by its new owners, and the Réserve bottling reflects that hybrid identity: Syrah and Grenache from the south alongside Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot from the Atlantic side of France. It's an inexpensive way to taste an appellation most people have never heard of.
Bright red color with garnet reflections. Pronounced oak on the nose over ripe fruit, with a spicy, fleshy, juicy palate. A young wine that benefits from time to open up.
Classic matches for a red like this: Grilled and roasted meats, hearty pastas, aged cheeses.
Cabardès sits at the crossroads of Languedoc and Bordeaux influence, and by appellation rule its wines blend Grenache and Syrah with Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. Château Bournonville was purchased in 1994 and replanted by its current owners.
