Randy Lewis drove the Indy 500 five times, then founded Lewis Cellars in Napa in 1992 with his wife Debbie. Alec's Blend is named for their oldest grandson, and the 2019 is a Syrah-led ride: 56% Syrah, 30% Merlot, 11% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Cabernet Franc. Plush, dark and unapologetically hedonistic. This is the Napa red for drinkers who find straight Cabernet predictable. Open it at a steak dinner and watch it empty first.
Bursting with blueberry, black cherry, cola and chocolate, dusted with cocoa, floral notes and cedary spice. Stays fresh while gaining serious richness through the finish.
