Bouchon - Merlot - 2020
$20.99
Bouchon Vineyards is a California label — not to be confused with the similarly named Chilean producer J. Bouchon in the Maule Valley — making easy, oak-aged reds at approachable prices. This Merlot ages in oak and pours a deep garnet with black cherry, vanilla and toasty character, finishing soft with a long tail. It's a straightforward weeknight red: no big tannins to fight, just fruit and warmth. Good with roast chicken, pork tenderloin, mushroom dishes or a simple red-sauce pasta night.
Deep garnet color. Lively black cherry aromas lead into lush fruit flavors laced with vanilla and oak. Soft on the palate with a smooth texture and a long finish — easy-drinking, not tannic.
Try it with lamb, beef, smoked salmon or a hearty pasta dish — per the producer, an unusual but fun match for the salmon.
