A 20-year tawny in a handsome decanter bottle, boxed and ready to gift. Butler Nephew traces its lineage to a Porto partnership founded in 1730; James Butler joined in 1789, and the Butler & Nephew name arrived in 1829 when his nephew Robert entered the firm. Two decades of wood aging turn the wine golden amber and layer dried fig, toffee and candied orange over soft red fruit. Serve it slightly chilled after dinner. The rare gift bottle that comes with its own centerpiece.
Golden amber. Ripe berry, dried figs and vanilla on the nose with citrus and oak. Candied plum, candied orange, prune and caramel, a hint of rancio and gentle spice. Smooth, silky texture.
Fruit cake, ice cream and dried fruits after dinner, or pour it lightly chilled as an aperitif.
The house descends from a Porto firm founded in 1730. It became Butler & Nephew in 1829, and Samuel Dixon built its reputation for exclusive Ports after taking the helm in 1854.
