De Martino has farmed Isla de Maipo since 1934, when Italian immigrant Pietro De Martino planted his first vines there. The family, now four generations in with Marco Antonio and Sebastián at the helm, went organic in 1998 and became the first carbon-neutral winery in Chile. This Cabernet comes off deep gravel soils where Pacific breezes cut the valley heat, fermented with native yeasts after a cold soak and aged partly in used French oak to keep the fruit forward. Herbal-edged dark fruit, cassis, violet, soft grippy tannins, a finish that runs to chocolate and coffee.
