Domaine de L’Olivette - ‘Terroirs’ - 2021
$25.00
Domaine de l'Olivette is a family estate in Le Castellet best known for serious, age-worthy Bandol built mostly from Mourvèdre. 'Terroirs' is their more relaxed, everyday-tier red, declassified to IGP Méditerranée and blending Grenache, Mourvèdre and Syrah. Same hands, same Provençal hillsides, just built for drinking now instead of cellaring. The estate farms without chemical herbicides or insecticides and holds High Environmental Value certification. A good weeknight red with real Provence character.
Ripe red fruit like cherry and raspberry, with garrigue herbs and a subtle spiciness. The palate turns toward blackcurrant and plum, structured but with smooth, approachable tannins.
Lamb is the classic match here, along with grilled vegetables and herb-heavy Provençal cooking.
The Dumoutier family has farmed Domaine de l'Olivette for roughly two centuries on the clay-limestone slopes of Le Castellet, in the heart of the Bandol appellation. They hand-harvest and hold High Environmental Value certification, using no chemical herbicides or insecticides.
