Note: the register lists this as Flur de Pingus, the real wine is Flor de Pingus, Peter Sisseck's second label out of Ribera del Duero, made since 1995 from old-vine Tinto Fino, Tempranillo, sourced from growers around the village of La Horra. It's the more approachable, earlier-drinking sibling to the famous Pingus, but still built for the cellar. James Suckling scored the 2019 a 97, Wine Advocate's Luis Gutierrez gave it 94, both noting more concentration than the 2018 with the oak fully absorbed.

Blackberry, black cherry and hot crushed stone with cement and black licorice. Medium-to-full body, plush and fine-grained tannin, with real freshness and lift for a wine this concentrated. Best from 2024 on.

Classic matches for a red like this: Grilled and roasted meats, hearty pastas, aged cheeses.

Flor de Pingus comes from old, low-yielding Tinto Fino vineyards around La Horra in Ribera del Duero, farmed by growers Sisseck has worked with for decades, the same old-vine, minimal-intervention philosophy that built Pingus, just at greater volume.
