Knights Bridge Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 750ml

Knights Valley is the warm, rocky corner of Sonoma pressed against the Napa county line, and Knights Bridge farms it a stone's throw from Peter Michael and just northwest of Chateau Montelena. This Knights Valley Cabernet runs 97 percent Cabernet Sauvignon with dashes of Cab Franc and Merlot, aged 20 months in French oak, only 10 percent of it new. Mountain-edge fruit, light hand on the wood. Napa neighbors charge double for less restraint.

Blueberry and red raspberry with fresh sage and lavender. Mulberry fruit runs into Sumatran coffee and cacao powder. Fine-grained tannins, rounded texture, medium build. Drinks now through 2038.

Grilled ribeye with porcini, beef tenderloin in garlic brown butter, or mushroom ravioli when the vegetarians outvote you.

The estate sits on the southern boundary of the Knights Valley AVA, and the 2018 draws its complexity from a range of clones, soil types and exposures across the property.
