Laurent-Perrier's 2012 Brut Millésimé is a 50/50 blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, sourced from top Champagne villages: Chouilly, Cramant, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and Oger for the Chardonnay, Bouzy, Louvois, Mailly, Verzy and Verzenay for the Pinot Noir. Ten years on lees before an 8 g/L dosage gives it real depth without heaviness. This is the vintage Champagne for an anniversary or a genuinely good occasion, not just any Tuesday toast.

White gold color, fine bead. White peach, toasted brioche, vanilla bean and honey brickle on the nose. Rich, textured palate of white cherry, preserved lemon, biscuit and marzipan, finishing long with a saline, citrus-peel snap.

Classic matches for Champagne: Oysters, fried chicken, potato chips, celebration in any form.

Fruit comes only from Grand Cru villages — Chardonnay from Chouilly, Cramant, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and Oger; Pinot Noir from Bouzy, Louvois, Mailly, Verzy and Verzenay — aged a full decade on lees before an 8 g/L dosage.
