Louis Jadot - Pommard - 2019

$91.99

Maison Louis Jadot has been running out of Beaune since 1859, one of Burgundy's biggest négociant-éleveurs, owning vineyards and buying fruit both. This Pommard Village 2019 is 100% Pinot Noir, aged 16 months in oak casks, about 30% new. Pommard has a reputation for being Burgundy's brawnier red, and this one delivers, ripe and structured, built to sit at the table with something substantial. Wine Enthusiast gave it 91 points and called it immediately enjoyable with room to hold past 2026.

Incense, black cherry and black currant lead, backed by red berries, plum, raw cocoa and sweet soil tones. Full-bodied and juicy with fine, powdery tannins, silky rather than rustic, with a penetrating, lasting finish.

Built for red meat, grilled or roasted in a sauce, the way Pommard's always been served in Burgundy.

Jadot's Pommard fruit comes from the négociant's long-standing Côte de Beaune sources; the house itself dates to 1859 in Beaune, though the family's vineyard holdings, starting with Clos des Ursules, go back to the 1820s.
