Love On Mars comes from Pied à Terre, the Sonoma project built by winemakers Clay Mauritson and Emma Kudritzki with sommelier Richard Luftig, a longtime David Bowie fan. Each vintage is a small-batch pull of the barrels from their Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon that showed the most opulent fruit and matured fastest, roughly ten barrels making about 250 cases. It's glam rock in a glass: dark, plush and ready to drink well before its bigger siblings. Open it for a night that wants a little theater.

Blackcurrant, black cherry and dark chocolate up front, with blackberry, violets and pencil shavings underneath. Velvety, well-structured tannins and a plush, energetic mid-palate carry into a warm finish.

Classic matches for Cabernet Sauvignon: Ribeye off the grill, lamb chops, aged cheddar, a rainy night and a good movie.
