Madonna Nera - Rosso di Montalcino - 2021

Madonna Nera is a father-daughter project. Lorenzo and Bernadetta Borgogni bought land in Montalcino in 2006 with one goal: make a serious Brunello without cutting corners, and they brought in star enologist Carlo Ferrini to help. This Rosso di Montalcino is the estate's younger, earlier-drinking wine, built from the same Sangiovese vineyards as their Brunello but released sooner. Cherry and red fruit up front, soft tannins, real freshness. It's the everyday glass from a producer that takes the big wine seriously too.

Cherry, small red fruit and light floral notes on the nose. Soft tannins, pleasant acidity, and the immediacy and freshness the Rosso di Montalcino category is built for.

Lorenzo and Bernadetta Borgogni founded Madonna Nera in 2006 in Montalcino's Val d'Orcia, partnering with renowned enologist Carlo Ferrini. The estate makes Sangiovese-based Brunello and this earlier-release Rosso from the same vineyards.
