Peirano has been growing grapes in Lodi since the 1880s, when Giacomo Peirano arrived from Genoa during the Gold Rush and planted Zinfandel cuttings from his family's vineyard back in Italy. Five generations later, the family still farms the same ground, now with Lance Randolph making the wines. This Cabernet is Lodi through and through: ripe, generous, built for weeknight drinking rather than the cellar. Ready now, no waiting required.

Black cherry, blackberry and currant with cocoa, toasty oak and a dusting of sage and spice. Full and round, with firm, supple tannins and a silky finish.

Grilled steak, burgers, or anything off the barbecue. This Cab has the weight for it.

Giacomo Peirano emigrated from Genoa to Lodi in the early 1880s and planted one of the area's first vineyards with Zinfandel cuttings carried from his family's land in Italy. The estate has stayed in family hands for five generations, now led by fourth-generation winemaker Lance Randolph.
