The Bard is Realm Cellars' Napa Valley blend and one of the sharpest tickets into a cult producer's lineup. The 2021, from a small and superb drought vintage, runs 83% Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and a point of Petite Sirah. Critics landed at 97 to 98 points. Cassis, violets and graphite on the nose, blue and black fruit on a firm, full-bodied palate, tannins like cashmere on the finish. Do not overthink this one. Just buy it.

Crushed black currant, black raspberry, pencil shavings, lilac, spearmint and dark chocolate. Full-bodied and firm, fine-grained ripe tannins, lively backbone, tightly wound red, black and blue fruit. Long polished finish.
