Ruffino - ‘Modus’ - Toscana - 2020

Ruffino has made wine in Tuscany since 1877, and Modus is its modern Super Tuscan, first released in 1997. The 2020 blends 46% Merlot, 31% Sangiovese and 23% Cabernet Sauvignon, aged 12 months in barrique at 14.5% alcohol. Cherry, plum and black berry fruit lead, wrapped in sweet tobacco and baking spice. It's full-bodied but polished rather than heavy, silky tannins carrying it through. A crowd-pleasing Toscana IGT for people who want Super Tuscan richness without a Super Tuscan price tag.

Mature cherry, plum and blackberry, with cinnamon, vanilla and tobacco smoke. Full-bodied, silky tannins, and a long finish carrying baking spice.
