Saurus Select - Pinot Noir - Patagonia - 2021
$30.00
Familia Schroeder dug the foundations for its winery in San Patricio del Chanar, Neuquen, and hit dinosaur bones. The Titanosaur fossil now lives in a special cellar, and the Saurus line carries its name. This Select Pinot Noir comes from high-desert Patagonia: stony soils, Andean meltwater, intense sun, and cold nights that lock in acidity. Part of the blend ages in French and American oak, the rest stays in steel to keep the fruit loud. Real Pinot character for thirty bucks.
Roses, violets, red currant, raspberry, and strawberry over mushroom and mineral undertones. Medium-bodied with ultrafine sweet tannins, fresh acidity, light vanilla and cocoa, and a peppery finish.
Classic matches for Pinot Noir: Salmon, roast duck, mushroom risotto, a charcuterie board that means business.
The Schroeder family farms San Patricio del Chanar in Neuquen, a young Patagonian region with light stony soils, pure meltwater, strong sunlight, and big day-night temperature swings. The Titanosaur found during construction is displayed at the winery.
