Subsoil is a value label from Mercer Wine Estates, a multi-generation farming family working more than 3,000 acres of Horse Heaven Hills and Columbia Valley vineyards in Washington. The Red Blend leans on Merlot and Syrah with Malbec, Petit Verdot and Mourvèdre filling in, all estate-grown in the wind-deposited soils the label is named for. Winemaker Ashley Stephens, a Ste. Michelle alum who spent a decade with the Mercer family, keeps the style fruit-forward and easy. Good everyday blend for taco night or a Tuesday with nothing special going on.

Ripe black cherry and blueberry with milk chocolate, coffee and sweet smoke. Plush fruit through the mid-palate, powdery tannins, long finish of bing cherry and spice.
