Tablas Creek - Patelin de Tablas - Rouge - 2022

$39.99

Patelin de Tablas Rouge is Tablas Creek's everyday Rhône red, built from the same Beaucastel-derived vines that go into their flagship wines but sourced from eight to twelve Paso Robles vineyards planted with Tablas Creek nursery cuttings. The 2022 is 54% Syrah, 29% Grenache, 13% Mourvèdre, 3% Counoise and 1% Terret Noir. Tablas Creek was founded in 1989 by the Perrin family of Château de Beaucastel and importer Robert Haas. This is the bottle for a weeknight roast chicken or a Tuesday pizza night, not a special occasion.

Licorice and crushed rock open the nose, backed by blackberry, soy and sweet tobacco. The palate turns savory with black raspberry, mineral and a meaty pancetta note from the Syrah. Bright acids and chalky tannins carry through a long, herb-tinged finish.

Classic matches for a red like this: Grilled and roasted meats, hearty pastas, aged cheeses.

Tablas Creek was founded in 1989 when the Perrin family of Château de Beaucastel partnered with importer Robert Haas to plant Rhône varieties imported into California through a three-year USDA quarantine. Patelin de Tablas sources fruit from 8-12 Paso Robles vineyards, most grown from Tablas Creek's own nursery cuttings, fermented in a mix of upright oak fermenters and stainless steel.
