Tinazzi Verona Corvina 2023
$30.00
Corvina is the backbone grape of Valpolicella and Amarone, and Tinazzi bottles it solo here as a Verona IGT. The family firm dates to 1968, when Eugenio Tinazzi started out near Lake Garda; his son and grandchildren now run estates in both Veneto and Puglia. This is their easy-drinking side: 100 percent Corvina Veronese at 13.5 percent, all cherry and spice. Twenty minutes in the fridge does it favors. Tuesday-night Italian red, zero homework required.
Ripe cherry and red berries with spice and a light cocoa note. Velvety and full on the palate, licorice sneaking in late, with a long, persistent finish.
Pizza night. Also salumi boards, lasagna, and anything with tomato sauce and an hour in the oven.
Eugenio Tinazzi founded the house in 1968 in Cavaion Veronese. Today it is based in Lazise on Lake Garda, run by son Gian Andrea with grandchildren Francesca and Giorgio, with vineyards in Bardolino, Valpolicella, and Puglia.
