Torbreck Cuvee Juveniles Barossa Valley 2023 750ml
$30.00
Torbreck built its name turning some of the Barossa's oldest vines into Rhône-style bistro wine, and Cuvée Juveniles is where that mission shows up loudest. The 2023 blends Grenache with Mataro, Carignan, Counoise and a splash of Shiraz, drawn from old dry-grown vineyards across historic subregions like Lyndoch, Marananga and Seppeltsfield. James Suckling gave it 94 points. It's built to be opened young and often, the kind of bottle you grab for a Wednesday dinner that doesn't feel like a Wednesday dinner.
Wild cherry, raspberry and pomegranate up front, with peppery spice and a savory whisper of five-spice and cured meat from the Mataro. Medium-bodied, plush yet vibrant, with fine tannins and a lively, fresh finish.
Built for the table: charcuterie boards, duck breast, or a rich ratatouille all match its spice and structure.
Torbreck was founded in 1994 by David Powell and named for a Scottish forest, an odd anchor for a winery built on some of the Barossa's oldest dry-grown vines, many 80 to 125 years old, hand-harvested from historic subregions like Lyndoch, Marananga and Seppeltsfield.
