Trefethen's rarest Cabernet, named for third-generation Trefethens Hailey and Lorenzo. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from the family's Hillspring Vineyard, where shallow rocky soils in the Oak Knoll District do the hard work, aged 30 months in 100% new French oak. The cool late season in 2018 gave long hang time and it shows in the layered fruit. Connoisseurs' Guide scored it 95 and called it one of the finest Cabernets of the year. Estate-grown Napa at its most polished.
Ripe raspberry with pepper, bay leaf and a touch of sarsaparilla. Dark and dense, layered plum and raspberry, baking spice and tobacco, sustained and powerful finish.
Highly marbled steak. The winery chef pours it with a tomahawk ribeye, roasted potatoes and spinach, and we see no reason to improve on that.
HaLo comes entirely from the estate Hillspring Vineyard, where shallow rocky soils and shelter from fog and wind ripen exceptional Cabernet. It leads Trefethen's Legacy Collection, honoring three generations of the family farming Oak Knoll.
