Chateau Peyfaures - Petit Peyfaures - 2016
$21.99
Château Peyfaures is a Bordeaux Supérieur estate in Genissac, in the Entre-deux-Mers, founded in 1830 and close to Saint-Émilion. Petit Peyfaures blends 80% Merlot with 12% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Cabernet Franc, farmed organically with native-yeast fermentation. About a third of the blend ages in mature French oak for a year, the rest in stainless steel. James Suckling scored it 90 points. It's an easy-drinking, food-friendly Bordeaux — mostly Merlot, soft and round — without Saint-Émilion pricing.
Fresh red fruit on the nose, raspberry and red currant. Round tannins and juicy red fruit on the palate — easy drinking with real complexity, gentle rather than gripping.
Classic matches for a red like this: Grilled and roasted meats, hearty pastas, aged cheeses.
Château Peyfaures has farmed in Genissac, in Bordeaux's Entre-deux-Mers, since 1830. Vines are organically farmed and vinified with native yeast; the wine is also vegan.
