Manso de Velasco is Miguel Torres Chile's icon Cabernet Sauvignon, sourced from a single old-vine block in the Curicó Valley planted in 1949. The 2018 is full-bodied and built to age, with dark fruit, chocolate and cedar layered over firm tannins. It's the bottle for someone who wants Chilean Cabernet taken seriously — old vines, careful oak, and real cellar potential, not just everyday value.
Blackcurrant, blackberry and dark chocolate with baking spice, cedar and a touch of tobacco. Full-bodied, with firm, structured tannins and a long finish.
Classic matches for Cabernet Sauvignon: Ribeye off the grill, lamb chops, aged cheddar, a rainy night and a good movie.
The fruit comes from Torres' original Manso de Velasco vineyard in Curicó, planted in 1949 on ungrafted old vines — among the oldest Cabernet plantings in Chile — which the winery has bottled as a single-vineyard wine since 1993.
