Porter Creek - Zinfandel - 2018
$51.99
George Davis planted Porter Creek in the Russian River Valley in 1977 with a Burgundian mindset, and when his son Alex took over the winery he pushed further, converting the estate to Demeter-certified biodynamic farming in 2003 -- rare in California even now. This Zinfandel is Sonoma fruit farmed on that same biodynamic program, a step away from the jammy, high-alcohol Zin style toward something more restrained. Good choice for someone who wants Zinfandel without the fruit-bomb reputation.
Explosive cherry and berry aromatics, rich and textured through a long finish. Built with the same restraint as the estate's biodynamic Pinot Noir.
Classic matches for Zinfandel: Burgers, ribs, pepperoni pizza, bold tomato sauces.
Porter Creek's 20 acres in the Russian River Valley have been Demeter-certified biodynamic since 2003, when Alex Davis took the farming his father George started in 1977 a step further. It's one of the longest-running biodynamic estates in California.
