Joël Duffau named this one for his wife. French Kiss is bottled as Bordeaux Clairet, the old regional style that sits between rosé and red, and it is one hundred percent Merlot off young vines. Forty-eight hours on the skins, fermented in temperature-controlled tanks with no added sulfur, certified organic. Thirteen percent alcohol. Serve it cold with lunch and watch people ask what it is.

Flowers and red fruit on the nose. Blackcurrant and wild strawberry with a minty edge, fruity and supple across the palate, light on its feet, fresh clean finish.

Duffau is the ninth generation on this land and settled at Moulon in 1985. He began converting the vineyard to organic in 2010 and it is certified now. The French Kiss fruit grows on boulbènes, the clay and silica soils of the southwest, at Naujan-et-Postiac.
