Domaine Bellevue - Touraine Rose - 2022
$28.99
Domaine Bellevue's Touraine Rosé blends five different Loire reds — Cabernet Franc, Gamay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Côt (Malbec) and Pineau d'Aunis — grown on flinty sand over clay-limestone soil on the right bank of the Cher. The Vauvy family has farmed this 40-hectare Touraine estate for four generations, sustainably for over a decade. It's a structured, savory rosé, not a fruit-candy sipper: dry, peppery, food-ready. Pour it with charcuterie or grilled chicken on a warm night.
Spicy on the nose with strawberry and melon lift. The palate turns dry, rich and peppery, with balanced acidity carrying through to a smooth, citrus-tinged finish of orange and mandarin.
Classic matches for a rosé like this: Charcuterie, grilled shrimp, salads, and warm evenings generally.
Domaine Bellevue farms 40 hectares on the right bank of the Cher in Touraine, planted mostly to Sauvignon Blanc alongside Gamay, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Chenin and Pineau d'Aunis. Patrick Vauvy is the fourth-generation owner-winemaker. Vines for the rosé average 30 years old, growing in light siliceous stony ground over clay-limestone subsoil, farmed without chemical herbicides for over a decade.
