G.D. Vajra is one of Barolo's most respected organic producers, farming 40 hectares around Vergne, the highest hamlet in the Barolo commune, since Aldo Vajra earned the region's first organic certification in 1971. Rosabella is their rosato, named for Milena Vajra's mother Rosa, made mostly from young-vine Nebbiolo with a splash of Barbera and Dolcetto. Saignée method, no malolactic, bottled young in January to lock in freshness. This isn't a throwaway summer pink; it carries real Nebbiolo character and some structure. Serious rosato from a serious address.

Jasmine, rose petal, white raspberry, pink salt and mountain flowers on the nose. Lush, saline texture up front with balanced acidity. Vinous also found peach, mint and lemon oil, closing with green apple and mineral.

Classic matches for a rosé like this: Charcuterie, grilled shrimp, salads, and warm evenings generally.

G.D. Vajra farms 40 organically certified hectares around Vergne, the highest hamlet in Barolo, at up to 400 meters. Aldo Vajra took over the estate at 15 in 1968; the family earned Barolo's first organic certification in 1971. Rosabella draws on young Nebbiolo vines from Barolo, La Morra, Novello and Serralunga d'Alba.
